Vtg 1930 Hammond Ravenswood Bakelite Gothic Cathedral Electric Alarm Clock
This vintage Hammond Ravenswood electric desktop alarm clock was manufactured circa 1930 by The Hammond Clock Co. of Chicago, Illinois. It features an iconic dark brown molded Bakelite case sculpted into a dramatic Gothic cathedral architectural arch with geometric ribbed accents on the front facade. Built with a non-self-starting synchronous motor under U.S. Patent No. 1,719,805, this manual "spin-start" model relies on the rear starter knob to spring into operation when plugged into a 110V AC outlet. Complete with its original cloth-covered power cord (no plug attached), this historic clock serves as an outstanding example of early American Art Deco horology designed by Laurens Hammond, who later achieved worldwide fame for the Hammond Organ
