Vintage P&LE RR Folk Art Hand Painted Long Spout Railroad Engineer Oil Can
This unique piece of Americana combines authentic industrial history with vibrant country folk art. It is a genuine vintage long-spout railroad engineer's filler/oil can, prominently featuring an embossed metal plate reading P & LE RR (Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad). The entire piece has been treated as a canvas, hand-painted in light blue with charming folk art scenes wrapped around the body. One side depicts an open country landscape complete with a yellow and red tourist train traveling past grazing cattle. The other side includes the handwritten text "Black Hills Railroad" arching over a scenic mountain range and woodland view. The oiler features its original soldered construction, dual handles (bail and side grip), and a distinct tapered long spout used by steam-engine operators. Can has a clear dent in it but is beautiful.
