VINTAGE MMA Modified Motorcycle Assoc Belt Buckle No 0030 San Jose Just Leather
ULTRA RARE VINTAGE MMA (MODIFIED MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION) BELT BUCKLE -- SERIAL #0030
Up for auction/sale is an incredibly rare, historically significant piece of California motorcycle counterculture history. This is an original vintage Modified Motorcycle Association (MMA) belt buckle, stamped with an elite, ultra-low early production serial number: NO. 0030.
This piece was distributed directly through Just Leather Distributors, the iconic, 3-generation family-owned biker shop located at 2370 Stevens Creek Blvd in the Burbank District of San Jose, California. Founded on May 4, 1967, and now permanently closed, Just Leather was legendary for high-end, USA-made custom leather gear and club apparel.
HISTORICAL NOTE:
The MMA was at the absolute forefront of the 1970s and 80s motorcyclist rights and anti-helmet law movements in California. Dual-branded pieces like this--connecting the MMA to a legendary, defunct San Jose establishment like Just Leather--almost never surface publicly. There are currently no other known active listings or visual examples of this specific #0030 design online. It is a true "ghost" collectible.
CONDITION DETAILS (PLEASE READ):
  • AS-IS / REPAIR NEEDED: The rear catch prong/hook is broken off (please look closely at the macro photos).
  • The main front-facing logo panel and the rear metal belt loop are completely intact, stable, and solid.
  • Perfect Display Piece: Because of its historic significance and the highly visible serial number stamp, this makes an incredible standalone garage display, shadow box centerpiece, or shelf trophy for a vintage biker memorabilia collector. Alternatively, it is a prime candidate for a professional jeweler or metalworker to braze/solder a new prong onto the back.
  • Dimensions: Measures 3 inches wide by approx 2 inches tall. Fits a standard 1.75-inch belt loop strap.
Please review all high-resolution photos carefully to assess the exact cosmetic condition and the broken rear prong. Shipping securely via USPS with tracking. Don't miss out on a completely unique piece of NorCal biker history!
