Up for sale is a 2-piece historical collection of vintage Brown & Sharpe No. 650 tempered steel center gauges, representing two distinct eras of American threading standards.

Included Gauges & Era Breakdown:

  1. Early "Sharp Thread" Variant (~Late 1800s – 1910s): Stamped "DOUBLE DEPTH OF SHARP THREAD" and "BROWN & SHARPE MFG. CO. / PROVIDENCE, R.I." Uses the pre-WWI 60 degree Sharp V-thread standard before national standardization.

  2. Later "American National" Variant (~1920s – 1940s): Stamped "DOUBLE DEPTH OF AMER. NAT. THREAD", "650", and "TEMPERED / BROWN & SHARPE MFG. CO. / PROVIDENCE, R.I. U.S.A." Features the standardized flat crest/root thread formula adopted following World War I.

  • Both gauges feature 60 degree lathe tool setting notches and 14ths, 20ths, 24ths, and 32nds edge graduations.

  • Clear, fully readable etchings with natural age patina and light shop wear as shown in photos.
