Product Overview

Up for sale is a classic piece of model railroading history: an HO Scale Electro-Motive Division (EMD) GP38-2 diesel locomotive manufactured by Life-Like Trains.
This specific model is a highly collectible first-generation variant stamped Made in Hong Kong on the bottom chassis. Released in the late 1970s following the prototype's real-world introduction, this model is celebrated as the very first plastic "Dash 2" locomotive ever produced in HO scale. It is decorated in the eye-catching lime-green, yellow, and silver corporate livery of the Illinois Terminal Railroad (ITC).

Condition: Used, pre-owned condition. The historic Illinois Terminal lime-green paint scheme and yellow pad-printed graphics are bold, clean, and fully legible. Typical for this specific vintage production run, the yellow plastic handrails show minor warping/leaning from storage. The dual wheel trucks are intact. No original box or packaging is included (loose item). Rear handrail is broken, missing piece included. Rear coupling is missing and lighting wires need attention. Motor works.
