Up for sale is a classic, authentic 1996 Zippo Solid Brass pocket lighter featuring a beautiful, untouched natural vintage patina. This piece is a fantastic collector's example of real Zippo factory assembly history, showing a minor 1-month production overlap between the internal mechanism and outer shell.
Stamping & Authenticity Details:
  • Outer Case Bottom: Stamped I XII (September 1996)
  • Inner Insert: Stamped H XII (August 1996)
  • Collector's Note: Because Zippo manufactured cases and inserts on separate lines and mixed them in factory bins, a 1-month gap is completely original, period-correct, and standard for factory-issued lighters from this era.
Condition Report:
  • Exterior: Genuine solid brass case with an honest, uncleaned vintage patina. Shows minor pocket scuffs and fine surface scratches consistent with age, but is free of heavy dings or deep gouges.
  • Hinge & Action: The 5-barrel hinge structurally solid, slight play. The lid snaps open smoothly with the classic Zippo "click."
  • Insert: Features the correct, vintage gold-flashed finish designed specifically to match the brass case. Stamping is bright and fully legible.
  • Mechanics: The flint wheel has excellent texture and turns freely. The original felt backing pad and brass fuel screw are present at the bottom.
Note: Per shipping safety regulations, this lighter will ship completely dry with no fuel or flint included. It will require standard Zippo fluid and a fresh flint to strike.
