Reverse Painting 1920's Uncle Sam Army Surplus Glass Framed Vtg WW1 WW2 Art 39x44   Really cool piece of artwork, this is an old window, came from an old building in downtown pgh, they were remodeling & this was buried in the wall!!  amazingly noone broken it after all these years!  still has the hinges & the lock on the framework.....  couldnt find any history on it, his dad had removed it decades ago..... heard about it, buddy of mine chased it down & got it for us!!  alot of famous artists from pgh pa back in the day, wonder who did it??  wonder if it was someone weve heard of??   anyone familiar with the artists of pgh let us know!!    dont know anyone in the galleries.... maybe someone more informed than me...

Great Piece of history!!   know reverse printing was popular in the 20's & 30's    or is it 1940's   dont think it lasted into the 50's but I could be wrong, was amazed uncle sam goes back to the war of 1812

  • Uncle Sam was a real person. Born Sam Wilson in 1766 in Arlington, Mass., he later ran a meat packing plant in Troy, N.Y. During the War of 1812, he shipped meat to the troops in crates stamped "U.S.," and soldiers said it came from Uncle Sam.  guessing it stuck because the initials are U.S.
