Obverse Inscription: The front of the medal features a detailed bust of the Emperor in uniform, with the full Latin inscription: FRANC IOS I D G IMP AVSTR REX BOH ETC AC AP REX HVNG (Franz Joseph I, by the grace of God Emperor of Austria, King of Bohemia, etc., Apostolic King of Hungary).
