Why it Won't Fit Outside These Years
- Pre-1997: Older Sportsters use a different crankcase breathing setup and routing, utilizing an older backplate design.
- 2004 & Newer: In 2004, Harley completely redesigned the Sportster family to introduce rubber-mounted engines, completely changing the frame clearance, air cleaner housing assembly, and support brackets.
