This is an open-box Great Planes Piper J-3 Cub .40 size balsa wood model airplane kit (Kit # GPMA0160).

The plans and instructions include steps to build it as either version depending on your preference:
Standard Wing: 76.5 inches (1,945 mm) wingspan -- smooth, scale, gentle trainer-style flying.
Clipped Wing: 61.5 inches (1,560 mm) wingspan -- faster roll rate and acrobatic flying (you simply shorten the wing panels during assembly per the included plans).
Condition: Open box, partially assembled. Roughly 95% of the kit remains untouched and just as it came from the factory. A previous builder began assembling one of the cutout framework sections as shown in the photos.
Contents: Includes balsa wood sheets, die-cut/laser-cut parts, hardware/small parts bags, decal sheet (tail number NC42517), vacuum-formed plastic cowl and parts, and original building plans/manual.
Engine Note: This kit was originally manufactured without an engine--it is designed for the builder/assembler to supply their own motor or engine, as well as the skin.
