Antique W Brookfield 45 Cliff St NY CD 145 Glass Beehive Insulator Shop 21
This antique glass telegraph insulator is an original piece manufactured by the W. Brookfield Glass Company during the 1884–1890 production era at their 45 Cliff St. New York address. Known to collectors as a CD 145 "Beehive" or Crown Embossed Brookfield (CREB) style, it features prominent embossing that reads "W. BROOKFIELD / 45 CLIFF ST. / N.Y." on the front crown, with the shop mold number "21" crisply stamped on the very top of the dome. The reverse side bears the historical patent dates of "PATD NOV 13TH 1883" and "FEB 12TH 1884". Molded in a highly desirable, rich aqua to teal-green color palette with beautiful internal swirling glass lines and localized cooling bubbles, this double petticoat piece exemplifies early American industrial manufacturing. While these historic pieces vary heavily in value based on condition, examples in clean, display-ready aesthetic condition serve as superb conversation starters and highly prized artifacts for telephone, railroad, and utility history collectors.
