Antique Miniature Folding Pocket Travel Lantern Oil Lamp Bullseye Glass Lens Vtg

Up for sale is a rare, highly collectible antique miniature folding pocket travel lantern dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.

It features a folding tin box frame with ventilation holes, a thick glass bullseye magnifying lens to focus the flame's beam, and a threaded brass fluid reservoir with its original cloth wick and a matching screw-cap. The metal belt clip on the reverse allowed travelers, night watchmen, or cyclists to securely attach it to their clothing.

This compact tin-frame light measures roughly 2 inches wide by 3.5 inches tall when extended. It features a thick, intact glass bullseye magnifying lens designed to project a focused beam of light. The bottom houses its original, threaded brass oil reservoir complete with a woven wick and a secure screw-top fuel cap. The main tin housing swings open seamlessly on its hinge, features perforated air vents, and has a heavy-duty belt clip on the reverse.

Beautiful, uncleaned dark patina throughout with expected light oxidation—a spectacular piece of primitive lighting history.
