Up for sale is a compelling collection of approximately 10 authentic, hand-forged iron artifacts. While labeled as "Roman’s Knifes," this set features a historically significant mix of Roman and early medieval utility tools, including several tanged knife blades and traditional fire steels (strikers). These pieces offer a tactile connection to daily life and craftsmanship from the 1st through the 3rd centuries AD and beyond.
Included in this Lot:
- Iron Utility Knives (8 Pieces): A variety of tanged blades ranging in size and shape. These include leaf-shaped points and tapering utility blades typical of Roman and early provincial workshops.
- Fire Strikers/Steels (2 Pieces): Two distinct oval-shaped iron loops with decorative curled ends. These "fire steels" were essential tools for creating sparks when struck against flint.
- Display: The items are housed in a black Riker-style protective display case with a white foam insert and a handwritten period label.
Condition:
These are excavated/dug artifacts and show significant natural oxidation, surface pitting, and a rich, dark patina consistent with centuries of burial. The metal is stable but should be handled with care. Please refer to the high-resolution photos for the exact physical condition of each piece.
