PARAGON HOBBY/BERKELEY MODELS "GENERAL MOTORS FIREBIRD" 1/24 CONCEPT CAR
PARAGON HOBBY TOY "GENERAL MOTORS FIREBIRD" CONCEPT CARKit #P1-89 issued in 1955 in 1/24 scale and distributed by Berkeley Models Inc. Model is complete, unbuilt and unpainted with instructions and decals. Made from materials of the day: vacu-form plastic for main body, rubber wheels, with plastic, wood and wire small parts. Could be built to run off CO2 cartridges. Extremely rare kit of a futuristic car that was never built. Never issued in a plastic kit - only one I have ever seen
vintage Paragon "Firebird" prefabricated plastic assembly kit for a scale model of the General Motors gas turbine concept car. The kit is for the first U.S. gas turbine automobile prototype, the 1953 XP-21, later renamed the Firebird I. The model car is designed to race at "supersonic speeds" using a safe cartridge. The actual concept car was inspired by fighter aircraft design and featured a 370-horsepower gas turbine engine. The original Firebird I is preserved at the GM Heritage Center in Michigan
