Description
Up for sale is an authentic, antique 1923 delegate ribbon badge from the 21st Annual Convention of the Pennsylvania Rural Letter Carriers' Association (PRLCA). This convention took place in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, from September 3rd to 4th, 1923.
This rare piece of postal history is uniquely dual-sided. The front features a bold red, white, and blue tricolor silk ribbon heavily stamped in brilliant gold foil with the convention details and a small wing/arrow emblem. The top features a metal and celluloid name badge frame with its original hand-written paper name card inside for an attendee named "Berger".
The reverse side of the ribbon retains its original paper backing label reading "Compliments of Montgomery, Ward & Co.", listing their major mail-order hub cities of the era: Chicago, St. Paul, Kansas City, Portland, and Fort Worth. Montgomery Ward sponsored these specific attendee ribbons as a marketing push to postal workers. 
This is a fantastic piece of early 20th-century postal service history, Pennsylvania regional ephemera, and vintage advertising memorabilia.

  • Condition: Fair to good antique condition. The gold foil lettering on the front remains incredibly bright, crisp, and fully legible. The reverse paper advertising label is fully intact and readable. The bottom edge of the fabric ribbon shows significant historical fraying and structural wear from use, but the remainder of the badge is completely solid and stable. The original pin back on the reverse is present and functional.
