1920s Antique Erhard & Sohne "The Lamp Post" Brass Street Lamp Table Lighter
Missing original green marble base. Has not been tested.
Pedestal brass cigar lighter with lamp post figural design. There is a pull chain that exposes the lighter on the inside of the lamp. This piece measures 9 3/4″ high and the base has an approximate diameter of 3 1/4″ diameter.
The lighter mechanism is activated by pulling a small ball chain attached to the housing.
It is made of brass and intended for cigars or cigarettes.
It has a tapered, fluted stem adorned with acanthus leaf motifs, and a tiered, cast base.
It features a lantern-form housing with textured, ornate panels and a scalloped edge.
The item dates from around the 1920s and is considered a rare collector's item.
Erhard & Söhne was a well-known German metalware manufacturer, and their lighters are sought after by collectors of vintage tobacciana.
