 vintage bowl-back mandolin, also known as a "tater bug" mandolin due to its shape, which likely dates from the late 19th or early 20th century.     Design: Features a rounded back made of ribs of wood, typical of Neapolitan-style mandolins.  Condition: The image shows a heavily aged instrument with a cracked tortoiseshell pickguard, which is common for items of this era.  Identification: Similar instruments were produced by various manufacturers such as Washburn and Oscar Schmidt during the early 1900s.
