 Vintage Bell System Western Electric F1 Black Hotel Desk Telephone no dialer.   was thinking this was for a warehouse or large company.... customer sent us this, guess maybe it just called the switchboard operator......

This is a manual telephone, and could very well have been somebody's home phone, as manual service persisted in some rural areas well into the 70s. When you picked the receiver, the operator came on the line and asked "Number Plee-uz", and connected you to the number you gave her with those cords.
